Bodhi Star Summer Camp
Little Bodhi Star’s Nuggets of Wisdom
VOLUNTEERS |
Marita Yu – Assistant Teacher Coordinator (Sept 2009 – Aug 2010) It wasn’t only the coordinator who worked hard; all of the volunteers and ATs contributed immensely. This was a good opportunity not only for the Bodhi Stars to learn; also, a form of cultivation for the ATs and volunteers. (TOP)
Sally Sy – Assistant Teacher Coordinator (Sept 2010 – Mar 2011) It was a memorable experience. Although tiring and challenging, it was also very enriching. (TOP)
Celia Ng – Assistant Teacher Coordinator (May 2011 – Apr 2012) Being an AT made me realize that it was never too early for kids to learn meditation. There was a lot of necessary preparation, which shortened my patience and energy; but with the help of meditation, I was able to calm myself down despite of all the work given at hand. (TOP)
Joan Adrian Tabalanza – Assistant Teacher Coordinator (May 2011 – present) Teaching children the virtues of respect, compassion, harmony, sincerity, and thankfulness is also an opportunity to learn the same values from them. (TOP)
Elvy Roque – Assistant Teacher (Apr 2012 – present) Being in Ocean Sky Monastery, I realized that in helping others, I help myself. The Bodhi Star Class is the perfect vehicle to help others, especially young kids. (TOP)
Justin Abainza – Assistant Teacher (Apr 2012 – present) I have never felt so fulfilled teaching kids as young as 5 years old so eager to focus, learn and enjoy Wushu. Everyone is having so much fun, and then they still do it after classes. (TOP)
Marlyn Rañola – Assistant Teacher (2010 – present) Being with the children is very enjoyable because I can feel how children appreciate the lessons given to them. I gain compassion and develop my talent and creativity. (TOP)
Mary Tan – Assistant Teacher (Sept 2009 – present) As an AT, I observed that the Bodhi Stars were more behaved. They recited the Heart Sutra, meditated properly and participated actively during the question-and-answer portion. (TOP)
Miguel Sotingco – Volunteer (Jan 2012 – Apr 2012) Not only can they practice what they learned in front of the Shifus, they will also live out these values wherever they go. (TOP)
Naty Gopiao – Assistant Teacher (2009 – present) The class is a reminder of my experiences being a student-teacher as I keep on learning the value of compassion, kindness, respect, harmony and sincerity. I hope they can contribute something useful to their family and community when they grow up. (TOP)
Raceli Domingo – Assistant Teacher (2010 – present) In searching for enlightenment, I know that the quest is more pleasant, meaningful and effortless if shared. With this, I may be changing our future by touching the lives and molding the minds of these children. (TOP)
Sau Ha Sotingco – Assistant Teacher (Jan 2012 – Apr 2012) The children who had the chance to learn from the Shifus are all very blessed! (TOP)
