(2002-2012) Ten Year Highlights
Ocean Sky was established.
成立海天禪寺。
● Previously, a group of Philippine legislators
toured Chung Tai, and were impressed with the
magnificent scope and system of the monastery.
Then Speaker of the House of Representatives,
Jose de Venecia, Jr. extended his invitation to
Chung Tai to set up a branch in Manila.
菲律賓參議員所組代表團訪台，對中台禪寺之規模及制度留有極深刻印象，促成參議長 Jose de Venecia, Jr. 邀請中台禪寺來菲律賓成立 馬尼拉分院。
● Ocean Sky was the first branch of Chung Tai
Chan Monastery in Asia. After three branches in
the US, the monastery became the fourth
overseas branch of Chung Tai.
海天禪寺為中台禪寺在亞洲第一個分院。為繼美國三家分院後，第四個海外分院。
Meditation classes were officially
offered, taught in both Chinese and English.
中英文禪修班正式開課。
December 07: Ocean Sky celebrated
its first anniversary.
海天禪寺週年慶。
January 09-11: As part of the first anniversary celebration, Ocean Sky
held a medical mission conducted by traditional Chinese doctors and an exhibit of Chinese calligraphy and paintings on the premises.
週年慶活動「中醫義診暨書畫展」。
April: First Children’s Summer Camp. 第一屆兒童禪修夏令營。
August: Ocean Sky’s Dharma Support Association was organized. Lay disciple Albert Tan was appointed as President. 第一屆海天禪寺護法會成立，會長 由陳偉華(傳偉)擔任。
December: The new dining hall was remodeled.
齋堂修建工程完工。
March 09: Venerable Jianhong became the first Abbess.
住持見閎法師就任。
August 27: Venerable Jianyong took over the position of Abbess.
住持見庸法師就任。
January 27: Whole-year practice of
the Earth Treasure Bodhisattva
Sutra started.
啟建地藏經年度共修法會。
August 23-30: Tour of the Bodhi Mind pilgrimage to Chung Tai to celebrate the 80th birthday of Grand Master Wei Chueh.
菩提心旅，至台灣中台禪寺參加導師 上惟下覺大和尚八十上壽。
March 29: Whole-year practice of the Three Thousand Buddha Repentance Liturgy started.
啟建三千佛洪名寶懺年度共修法會。
March 15: Whole-year practice of the
“Universal Gateway of Bodhisattva
Guan Yin Chapter” started.
啟建觀音普門品年度共修法會。
May 03-09: One-week Liang Huang Jeweled
Repentance and Blessing/Memorial
Ceremony.
梁皇寶懺消災祈福暨超薦大法會。
May 10: Consecration and Purification of
Ocean Sky with Transmission of Three
Refuges Ceremony, presided by Venerable
Jiandeng, the Abbot of Chung Tai Chan
Monastery of Taiwan.
佛像開光灑淨暨正授三皈依法會，台灣
中台禪寺住持上見下燈和尚親臨主法。
October 10: Weekly Bodhi Star classes began.
菩提星兒童禪修班正式開課。
April 04: Whole-year practice of the Eighty-eight Buddha Repentance
Liturgy started.
啟建八十八佛洪名寶懺年度共修法會。
April 03: Whole-year practice of the Compassionate Samadhi Water
Repentance Liturgy started.
啟建三昧水懺年度共修法會。
June 15: Venerable Jianding took over
the position of Abbess.
住持見叮法師就任。
October 23: Acting Abbess Venerable Jianshu came to substitute for Abbess Venerable Jianding.
代理住持見樞法師就任。
December 09: Venerable Jianshu was officially inducted as the Abbess.
住持見樞法師就任。
January 08: Weekly lectures on Surangama Sutra,
in Chinese and English, began.
中英文楞嚴經講座正式開課。
January 15: Whole-year practice of the
Liang Huang Repentance Liturgy started.
啟建梁皇寶懺年度共修法會。
August: Lay disciple Albert Tan began his
9th consecutive term as president of the
Dharma Support Association.
第九屆護法會會長由陳偉華(傳偉)擔
任。九屆歷任會長皆由陳偉華擔任。
November 11-18: Ocean Sky celebrates its 10th
anniversary. Venerable Jiandeng, the Abbot of
Chung Tai Chan Monastery of Taiwan, presides
over the Nov. 18 Gratitude Ceremonies.
