Offerings

An offering is a practice in giving or "Dana"; it reduces our greed and helps cultivate our compassion.

香 (象徵 戒香) 心神安寧 身體潔淨 三業清淨 多聞妙法
Incense (symbolizes fragrance of precepts.) Peaceful mind; unblemished; purified body, speech, and will; get to listen to many wondrous Dharmas.
花 (象徵 微妙萬行、開花結果) 處世如花 見者歡喜 身常香潔 歡喜真理
Flower (symbolizes the flowering and fruiting of all subtle and wondrous actions.) Beautiful like flowers; appealing to everyone; possessing a clean and fragrant body; attracted to truth.
燈 (象徵 光明) 眼睛明亮 事業順利 獲正知見 智慧圓滿
Lamp (symbolizes clarity and brightness.) Clear and bright eyes, successful in all undertakings;
acquire right understanding, perfect wisdom.
塗 (象徵 甘露水,撫慰眾生煩惱) 身心清淨 相貌莊嚴 遠離煩惱 人緣良好
Perfume (symbolizes sweet dew that soothes all afflicted sentient beings.) Pure body and mind,
Beautiful face, be distant from vexations, good affinity with all.
果 (象徵 出世聖果) 遠離瘟疫 不受災害 享受快樂 早證佛果
Fruits (symbolizes attainment of the fruits of the saintly realm.) Be far from pestilence; not affected by calamities; enjoy happiness; early attainment of the fruit of Buddhahood.
茶 (象徵 清醒) 口齒芳香 永離渴愛 安樂少病 具大福報
Tea (symbolizes clear-mindedness.) Nice-smelling breath; be forever free from sexual desire; not readily afflicted with disease; full of great blessings and merits.
食 (象徵 禪悅妙食) 力大無窮 壽命綿長 眾人愛樂 辯才無礙

Jewel (symbolizes Mani Pearl.) Beautiful face; appealing personality; able to eliminate excesses;
instant attainment of saintly fruit.

Treasure (symbolizes Dharma jewel.) All obstacles are eliminated; the mind is at peace; acquire blessings and longevity; be far from miserable paths.
衣 (象徵 柔和忍辱、出離生死) 所有安全 不遭破壞 色澤柔美 具有財寶
Robe (symbolizes gentleness and tolerance, ability to transcend samsara.) Lasting protection from harm; good skin tone; be replete with wealth.
* When Bringing Food to the Monastery, Please Make Sure That...
There is no alcohol, meat, seafood, eggs, animal ingredients (such as gelatin in the jelly or rennet in cheese), garlic, onions, shallots, leeks, chives, coriander Chinese chives and cilantro. This will help maintain the purity of the monastery, keep us mindful of our cultivation, and help us fulfill our resolve.
