Louie Inoncillo (傳路),
Coordinator , Diamond Guardians Section

louie inoncilloLouie has this feeling that life got so much better from the time he, wife Mari-Len, and only child Amanda came to Ocean Sky and supported the monastery wholeheartedly. Louie said: “I guess it’s our awareness now of doing what’s right that made a lot of difference.” The Inoncillo family is Catholic, but they practice their faith the Buddhist way and cannot imagine their lives without Ocean Sky.

By regularly attending classes and applying the basic principles of Buddhism in his life, Louie’s outlook in a lot of things changed for the better. He shares: “I have learned to deal with my problems better and handled stress with more ease. This has shed a kind of light on my family, where my wife and I began to understand each other more, and do things together with harmony. Life has gotten easier and everything else followed.” Since last term, Louie has taken up Sutra Study. He has always been excited to study Buddha’s teachings in depth, and would often ask probing questions aimed at finding the true mind.

Louie helps out in the monastery in a lot of ways.
As the coordinator of the Diamond Guardians Section, his personality fits the characteristics of a diamond, brilliant, firm, constant, unwavering and very de- pendable. Whenever Shifus asked him to do a project, Louie would complete it even if it meant staying up all night. He, together with Edwin Pao, also takes photos at any events at Ocean Sky, inside or outside of the monastery.

The Inoncillo family has been donating to Ocean Sky in many ways. Louie said: “When you donate sincerely to the Three Jewels, business will naturally get better.” Because Louie’s line of work is in design and print ads, he has the necessary equipments to help Ocean Sky print liturgies, cards, and even sticker labels for auspicious water. Louie goes one step further in assisting Shifus when they canvas for materials for the monastery, by bringing them around to look at the equipment and supplying other price lists for comparison. He has also conceived and executed many special designs made out of various materials which were very functional around the monastery. With so many assignments given to him, Louie still keeps his happy mind. One time, to show how committed he was to serve Ocean Sky, he designed a special T-shirt just to get the message across. On the shirt, he wrote “SLEEP, WAKE, OCEAN SKY” with an accompanying illustration. The message is crystal clear— Ocean Sky has become a major part of Louie’s life.

In 2011, the whole family attended the 10th anniversary of Chung Tai, where Louie and daughter Amanda also took the Three Refugees and Five Precepts. Then, two months later, his wife Mari-Len took the Lay Bodhisattva Precepts. Things are really looking up for the Inoncillo family. Louie happily said: “We are now more careful with our speech and actions. In our daily lives, we still encounter different kinds of problems. But by applying what we studied in meditation class, we are learning to accept and cope with these challenges. In knowing that the whole Ocean Sky family is behind us, we know that all will be well always. AMITOFO!”
