Leslie Tan (傳施),
Assistant Coordinator , Community Relations Section

leslie tanLeslie is the eldest daughter of President Albert. She had been one of the earliest volunteers in Ocean Sky, long before the Dharma Support Association was even organized. Leslie was the acolyte, the ceremony announcer, the secretary, the public relations officer etc. You name it; she has done it for Ocean Sky.

A few years back, Leslie went to China and stopped attending meditation classes. Since returning to the Philippines, she has resumed volunteer work for the monastery. Early Saturday and Sunday morning, Leslie offers water and incense to the images of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in the monastery. Last term, even with her busy work schedule, she also attended the class on the Platform Sutra of the Sixth Patriarch whenever she could.

Now, Leslie is at it again with community relations, which seems to come naturally for her. To introduce more people to Ocean Sky and Buddhism, she even brought in her boss and his daughter's family to the monastery to be benefactors during the initial weeks of the 2012 year long Saturday Liang Huang Repentance Practice. And through her efforts, Ocean Sky has been invited by the real estate giant of the country, Ayala Land, to give meditation lessons twice a week to its people to sharpen their minds and awareness in order to face the tough and competitive work.

Like her parents who take such good care of the resident Sangha, Leslie would voluntarily come to the monastery to cook vegetarian meals to offer the Shifus and lay people. She also generously gave chocolates, tea, and other materials for lay people to offer during the Saturday Liang Huang Repentance Practice.

Ever the loving daughter, Leslie has personally witnessed how Buddhism has transformed her parents, especially her father Albert. For that, she is forever grateful to Ocean Sky.
